Performance at Orange Civic Theatre, ‘Legends, Stories & Enigmas’.
The Orange Symphony Orchestra finished its 2024 Season with both vigour and sensitivity performing Edward Elgar's Enigma Variations conducted with great energy by Joanna Drimitas. The musical subtleties were ably handled by the orchestra, one of Orange's cultural icons, made up of both professionals and keen amateurs.
Laith Ismail's beautiful oboe playing was an asset to the performance with Deanne Prusiak making a welcome return as principal clarinet. This was preceded by works by two Australian composers Maria Grenfell and Sally Greenaway whose atmospheric works reflected the natural Australian environment and was musically paired with Ralph Vaughan Williams beautiful The Lark Ascending lyrically brought to life by Australian violinist and well known Orange resident Lorraine Moxey.
